Tiny Little Horse Matt Griffin Drenge Screenprinted poster

Derbyshire’s finest Drenge play Academy 2 in Dublin tomorrow evening. We asked the lads about a month ago if they’d like us to design and print a short run of posters for the gig and they kindly agreed. Since working together on the Scroobius Pip poster last year, Matt Griffin and I had been due another collaboration and this one seemed just right. After batting around a few different concepts this one kind of fell together – make your own mind up about what it’s about because I haven’t the foggiest to be honest.

Limited number of copies are on sale here.

Screenprinted letter tiles Gavin Beattie 3FE Coffee The Small Print

I was recently asked to work on a novel screenprinting project by the nice folks at The Small Print for 3FE Coffee and their  shop on Lower Grand Canal Street, Dublin. 3FE use such a wide and changing variety of coffee beans in their shop each week that they needed a menu display system that would allow them to update and re-arrange both coffee names and prices on a regular basis. To fit in with the look and feel of the store was another key factor in the design, as was including their already established identity colours (courtesy of designers Conor and David).

Gavin Beattie Hot Fuzz poster - Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost

The good people at Damn Fine Print and The Light House Cinema organised an Edgar Wright / Cornetto Trilogy weekend in Dublin last weekend. To tie in with a series of screenings at the cinema, they asked 5 local artists to design a poster each for an Edgar Wright related production. The artists were Alé Mercado (Spaced), Steve Doogan (Shaun of the Dead), Fatti Burke (Scott Pilgrim), Steve McCarthy and myself (Hot Fuzz). Alan Dunne also created a fantastic poster for the overall event. Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost made an appearance on Monday for a brief Q&A and signed 5 copies of the prints while they were at it.

Two colour, A4 (12″ x 8.5″) his or hers screenprint on 250gsm cream Cartalina card – edition of 55 signed, numbered and stamped. This print is aimed primarily at the fact that schools in Ireland, both national and secondary, are still legally allowed to have discriminatory admissions policies in place. These policies grant places to children based firstly on religious denomination, practical factors such as living in the catchment area come further on down the list. €10 p&p from here….

gav beattie screenprinted poster planet x liverpool

Another event organised by Marc Jones was the Planet X Anti Jubilee Punk Special celebrating 25 years of Planet X. I think this is a good look for HRH, Charlie Manson eyes, a bit of crypt paint… A2 print again, silver and gold ink on black card. Hand numbered and signed edition of 60 posters. Really enjoyed making this poster too, made me revert to good old cut and paste for a change.
