Gavin Beattie Hot Fuzz poster - Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost

The good people at Damn Fine Print and The Light House Cinema organised an Edgar Wright / Cornetto Trilogy weekend in Dublin last weekend. To tie in with a series of screenings at the cinema, they asked 5 local artists to design a poster each for an Edgar Wright related production. The artists were Alé Mercado (Spaced), Steve Doogan (Shaun of the Dead), Fatti Burke (Scott Pilgrim), Steve McCarthy and myself (Hot Fuzz). Alan Dunne also created a fantastic poster for the overall event. Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost made an appearance on Monday for a brief Q&A and signed 5 copies of the prints while they were at it.

Dublin Flea Market - Fleabag, Gavin Beattie

Just before Christmas I was asked by the kind folk at Dublin Flea Market to submit some ideas for a series of cotton, screenprinted “Fleabags” they were planning to produce. They chose 3 designers submissions including this one of mine.

They turned out great and are available at the Flea Market which runs on the last Sunday of every month in The Co-op on Newmarket square, Dublin 8. “The Dublin Flea Market is a non profit driven social enterprise that promotes sustainability and opportunity in the wider community. It is as much about innovation, entrepreneurship and collaboration as it is about fun, haggling and friendship.”

Fumbally Lane promo poster/postcard

Sunday, December 12th, 2010

Iain O’Connor, journalist and radio presenter extraordinaire, co-presents the weekly show “Fumbally Lane”, on Dublin South FM (93.9) with Emma Cullinane and Street Cobra. Iain has the misfortune to work with me occassionally and asked me to illustrate something to promote the show. After a couple of ideas varying from the serious to the daft we settled on the mildly unsettling. Check the show out every Monday from 5 – 6:30pm.

Bacchus gigposters

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Just finished printing these this evening. 2 colour screenprinted gigposter for Tom KillerTee’s band Bacchus. After some tweaking, missing ingredients transpired to be: goats, smoke, swords and candles. Printed black and white ink on grey Cartalina card. Haven’t counted them yet but looks like an edition of about 35-40.
